Radiologic Technology Program Director

The Radiologic Technology Program Director provides leadership for all areas of the program, including student success, faculty support, academic quality, clinical education, accreditation, and day-to-day program operations.

This role is responsible for helping students stay on track from enrollment through graduation, supporting faculty in delivering a strong learning experience, and ensuring the program meets required academic, institutional, and accreditation standards. The Program Director may also teach courses as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the overall operation and academic quality of the Radiologic Technology program.

Support student success, retention, graduation, certification exam performance, and clinical/externship progression.

Manage student concerns, attendance-related issues, leaves of absence, and externship or clinical placement needs.

Recruit, onboard, schedule, train, coach, and support program faculty.

Conduct classroom observations and provide regular feedback to faculty.

Coordinate faculty meetings, program trainings, advisory committee meetings, and curriculum review activities.

Oversee clinical education, externship, and preceptorship sites to ensure students have appropriate, high-quality learning experiences.

Develop and maintain relationships with clinical partners and help ensure there are enough placement opportunities for students.

Monitor student learning outcomes and program data, identify areas for improvement, and create action plans when goals or benchmarks are not met.

Maintain current curriculum materials, including syllabi, course objectives, lesson plans, and textbooks.

Manage program equipment, supplies, calibration requirements, and purchasing requests.

Ensure faculty credentials, licenses, certifications, and required documentation remain current.

Maintain required student, faculty, program, accreditation, and regulatory records.

Prepare accreditation reports and support site visits, renewals, reviews, and other compliance requirements.

Ensure the program meets applicable institutional, state, federal, and accreditation requirements.

Participate in admissions, employment services, and other school-wide activities as needed.

Teach assigned courses based on program needs.

Required

Master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree with active enrollment in a master’s program.

At least three years of diagnostic radiologic technology experience.

Current ARRT certification in Radiography, or an equivalent credential.

Required California radiology supervisor/operator credentials, including the appropriate radiography and fluoroscopy credentials.

Current venipuncture certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.

Strong knowledge of radiologic technology education, clinical training, student support, and program requirements.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and lead faculty and students effectively.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred

Doctoral degree.

Teaching experience in a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Experience in program leadership, supervision, curriculum development, academic advising, accreditation, or clinical education coordination.

Additional ARRT certifications in imaging modalities beyond radiography.
